And the Title for the worst blogger ever goes to…

My goodness, it’s been a while. I honestly feel like the worst blogger ever! I promise though, dear readers, that I am still alive. Life has somewhat taken over and I’ve been super busy working on getting my next book polished and perfect for release. That’s all done now and the book is on course to be published later on this year! YAY! I’ll give you more information about the release as and when I receive it. I’m also planning on having an EPIC launch party – keep your eyes peeled!

Now that’s complete, I’ve been a busy little bee working on the NEXT book. You’ll all remember my little book “Girolamo Savonarola: The Renaissance Preacher” – well this next one is a rather large expansion on that, which I am really really excited for. I have a lot of love for Savonarola, despite the fact that he was a massive arsehole who destroyed so much beautiful art in his famous bonfires.

Other plans for this year include a trip over to Portugal, hopefully to coincide with the famous Templar Festival in Tomar. I’ve seen videos and pictures from previous festivals and let me tell you, it’s a sight to behold. The love that the people of Tomar have for their Templar history is just wonderful and I’m really excited to see this fabulous festival. My partner and I are also planning our own holiday and have decided that we’ll be avoiding Italy for the first time in a very very long time. At the moment Germany is looking like the winner though, given as this year is the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz (a separate blog post to come on that), I’ve also floated the idea of Poland so we can visit the harrowing site.

There are also LOTS more book reviews to look forward to. Honestly I have a pile of review books as tall as me to get through – something which makes me incredibly happy – though I am quickly running out of space to store them all.

I hope you’ve all had a fabulous start to 2020 and I promise I won’t let the dust build up here….much.

New publisher, who dis?

What a busy few months its been – and because of that I’ve been super quiet here on the blog. But there’a very good reasons behind both the busy and the quiet.

First of all, I’ve been working on my next book. This journey began a while back but now I am super thrilled to announce that it will be published by the amazing team at Pen & Sword books, and that I will be working with the for the foreseeable future! So I’ve been working my little socks off getting the manuscript edits done ready to be sent back – there’s still a ways to go and a few little rewrites here and there, but it’s going to be so worth it when the time comes to hold the finished product in my hands. I’ve seen the first cover design as well and let me tell you – it’s STUNNING!

I’ve also been preparing for the talk that I gave this past Saturday on the Borgia family at the Winchester Heritage Open Days. This was my most well attended talk to date and, despite the nerves at the start, it went really really well. For those of you who want to catch up on it, I live streamed it over on the facebook page.

I’m also going to be looking at redesigning the website over the next few weeks and months so do keep an eye out for that. But until then, it’s time to bury myself in edits. Keep an eye on here and the various social media for any more historical shenanigans – I tend to update there with things first rather than here.

Much love to you all

-Sam
